Day 2 | Newquay Zoo

Woke up bright and early at 8am to get ready for the day. We opened the curtains to an overcast and cloudy sky, but decided that I would wear my skirt with no tights to the zoo anyway, what a mistake that turned out to be!

We got ready and headed out on foot to Newquay Zoo, which is around a 15 minute walk from where we are staying. (Luckily it wasn’t too far, as this clever girl over here forgot to put her memory card into her camera and we ended up walking all the way back before we could go into the zoo. Oopsy!)

It’s not a massive zoo, but it was big enough for us to spend the morning there strolling around and looking at all of the animals.

I adore the lil Short Clawed Otters so much! I could happily spend all day ooh-ing and ahh-ing over their cute lil faces running around the pen and posing for photos.

Inside the zoo was a little farm section where you could go inside the pens with the Goats along with touching the Rabbits and Pigs etc. I squeezed through the gate into the pen with the Goats, followed closely behind by Kieran, when this lil rascal of a goat came running over to us.

He headed straight to Kieran, tried to eat his leg hairs before backing off a little and charging head first into him. Oh my. It was so funny, but all I could think of was how to get out of the corner of the pen we had been backed into without being charged at in my bare legs.

I had all sorts of visions.

At the exit there was a little zoo shop which was FULL of cuddly toys. Kieran told me to choose one to buy, but I loved them all so much that I couldn’t decide between each of their lil faces. So all of the babies came home with me. Please meet Penguin, Otter and Elephant. I am such a child.

Just as we left to head home the heavens opened and we ended up walking the whole way back in the pouring rain, getting soaked and freezing cold in the process. So after a quick pitstop back at the hotel to get changed into something a little warmer, and dryer, we headed back out again to explore the streets of Newquay, and typically, out came the sunshine!

We stopped off at The Cornish Bakery for a pasty for dinner, where I also had the most amazing custard cake from, yum! We then did a little bit of shopping and had a little stroll down along the beach before going back to the room to re-energise (both ourselves and our phone batteries).

We decided that having never been to Prezzo before we would try it out for tea, and my oh my were we impressed! I had the Italian Burgers, which are 2 burgers one with bacon, cheese and onion and the other one with mozzarella, pesto and onion, with a side of rosemary and garlic mashed potato. YUMYUMYUMYUM. One of the best meals that I have had in a looong time and I am so disappointed that we don’t have one anywhere near home. (I have even kept talking about them all night, Kieran reckons I could write a blog post just about my meal, but I won’t bore you with that)

After our meal we spent the rest of the evening spending our money in the arcades yet again, tonight to win Mickey Mouse, Cornish Pasty and Emoji figures. Please lord tell me what I am going to do with all of these pointless things, that cost us far too much money, when I get home. At least we had fun!

love, Leanne xx
